Our Mission for Sustainability

Eastern Samar State University is a state university anchored on the values of integrity, excellence, and service. As an institution of learning, we are committed to supporting and taking a central role in achieving sustainable development by 2030. The call to action adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015 articulates the blueprint for achieving peace and prosperity now and for the future.

We are situated in the Province of Eastern Samar in the Philippines, a region that has seen the severe impacts of climate change, poverty, and gender inequality curtailing growth and development. Having experienced the worst of super typhoons, we stood firm to establish partnerships to ensure knowledge creation and dissemination in line with climate issues. We have also positioned ourselves to establish infrastructures with carbon-offsetting mechanisms to assure a sustainable future.

This is done along with our continued effort to educate future leaders of this world. We have produced climate advocates that champion climate action in various parts of the world, along with our partnerships with various organizations standing for the same cause.

We have mentored thousands of students regardless of gender, preferences, and race for over our years of existence. We stand in our dictum of esteemed professionalism which a teacher should always represent without curtailing the freedom of self-expressions.

Our fourfold function of instruction, research, extension, and production is the opportunity of action in which we leverage to achieve the SDGs. Through education, we shape and hone minds to produce individuals with respect and integrity.
