The seminar-workshop on Capability Building on Futures Thinking and Foresight at ESSU aptly themed, "Strategic Futures: Elevating Research Impact through Packaging for High-Impact Journals and Indexing Platforms (WOS, Scopus, ACI)," commenced today, July 3, 2024, at the 2nd Floor Central Library, ESSU Main Campus.
Dr. Vicente A. Agda, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, opened the activities with a welcome message emphasizing the crucial role of impactful research as the currency of the present for academic institutions globally.
As academic research continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, there is also an increasing emphasis on not just the quality of research but also its visibility and impact. In this era of information abundance, the challenge for researchers lies not only in producing groundbreaking work but also in effectively packaging and disseminating it to the global academic community. It is because of these considerations that the university's RDSO has firmly pushed for this activity.
Before the workshop and mentorship, Vice President for Research Development and Extension, Dr. Lito D. Lacaba, was happy to announce the launch of the ESSU Research Journal website. Dr. Lacaba expressed that the establishment of the said website is a huge step towards meeting research targets, which have come to fruition to address one of the problem areas of the research and extension office.
With faculty researchers from across the various colleges and external campuses in attendance, the 3-day seminar-workshop is aimed at better equipping the university's human capital of faculty researchers. The workshop proper proved to serve exactly the same purpose, as highly esteemed resource person Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno IIl overwhelmed the audience with very useful new ideas in research and journal publications and how to utilize the digital resources available online.
Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno IIl is a renowned global health scientist and a leading figure in research strengthening and capacity-building globally. He is an active and productive scientist who has published nearly 400 scientific papers.
