International Faculty Mobility activities continue on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with the visiting professors doing engagements with various agencies and establishments around Borongan City.
After paying a courtesy call with the City Agriculturist, Mr. Macario A. Gabornes, Jr., and with Barangay Captain Hon. Ricardo Ramirez, Dr. Inneke Kusumawati Susanto, who is a biomedical expert, visited a local farmer in Brgy. Campesao who practices 100% organic farming.
Accompanied by the faculty members and students from the College of Agriculture (CAg), College of Science (SC), and College of Nursing and Allied Sciences (CONAS), the group collected soil and crop samples for examination at the BS Biology Laboratory upon their return to the campus. Findings from the said sampling will be provided as feedback to the farmer for better yield on his produce.
Dr. Inneke's group also met with the owner and operators of Enderio's Farm, also in Brgy. Campesao, which is a TESDA accredited institution that provides Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) in Organic Agriculture Production. Specimens were also collected for sampling.
