In close partnership with the DSWD, Eastern Samar State University’s Student Services & Alumni Affairs (SSAA) and Career & Job Placement Office (CJPO) conducted an orientation to 500 beneficiaries of the department’s Cash For Work Program (CFWP) today, June 11, 2024, at the Canuctan Hall, ESSU Main Campus.
Led by Ms. Ivy M. Pontesor, SWO III & CFWP Focal Person, the team from the DSWD Regional Office VIII was on site to facilitate the orientation. Project Development Officers (PDO) II, Ms. Pamela Jane R. Pido, and Ms. Maricar M. Quijano completed the team from DSWD RO8. Ms. Pido discussed in detail what the CFWP is all about including its legal foundation, mechanics, guidelines, documentary requirements and implementation procedures. Mr. John Vincent Cillo, Community Development Officer III from the DSWD Provincial Office and MATA Team Leader for Eastern Samar was also present to give a hand and address questions from the audience.
CWFP is one of the short-term programs of the DSWD’s Kalahi-CIDSS Program that is targeted for unemployed college graduates belonging to the economically vulnerable families. This program addresses the needs of the unemployed and fresh graduate beneficiaries to kick start their careers by earning significant work experience while receiving minimum wage.
Beneficiaries will be deployed to various government agencies where they can showcase their competencies with the possibility of getting absorbed in the same agency for a regular job. The recipients will also receive certification upon completion of their 90 days deployment which they can use as substantial points on their resume, wherever they choose to work next.
The 500 hundred beneficiaries in the said event are ESSU graduates from across all of its campuses, from 2021 to 2024. DSWD cited the persistent efforts of ESSU Main Campus’ Dean of SSAA, Dr. Aris A. Lapada, and CJPO Heads, namely Dr. Joel R. Pangilinan, Ms. Venus M. Seduco, Ms. Vivian Jarabe, Ms. Justine Ramilo, Ms. Mhavic M. Padit, and Ms. Antonette Waniwan, for successfully organizing this orientation, as ESSU is only the second SUC in the region to be visited by DSWD RO8 for the same exercise. Respective CJPO & SSAA counterparts from the external campuses were also present to make the event a success.
