An extremely worthwhile and productive "Capability Building on Futures Thinking and Foresight of ESSU" seminar-workshop at the Central Library, ESSU Main Campus, comes to a close today, July 5, 2024, with the participating faculty researchers soaking in information-rich discussions from distinguished resource persons.
The first two days of the events were underscored by a highly engaging and thoroughly revealing workshop by Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno IlI, who hails from Basey, Samar, and is a world-renowned authority in the world of research with connections to and currently holds academic positions at top universities in Europe and around the world. As a decorated scientist, Dr. Prisno's work brings him around the globe, and some of his work has been used as the basis for policymaking in the fields of global health and maritime industry.
Along with his associate, Mr. Jerico Ogaya, Dr. Prisno imparted fresh information about the research publications, an array of strategies to significantly improve the chances of studies by the ESSU faculty researchers being published in the top journals of the world, which consequently will result in the university's exponential rise in the world university rankings, eventually elevating ESSU's prestige in the academic playground.
The third day of the workshop saw two other leading researchers in the region sharing their proficiency as researchers, in the persons of Dr. Ronelie C. Salvador and Prof. Ron Ron Aruta. Both speakers shared equally crucial knowledge that will hopefully result in research outputs by ESSU faculty researchers being published in the world's leading journals. The highlight of the closing day was five research works by a few members of the faculty being submitted for publication after helpful input and review by the mentors.
Now, the Office of the Vice President for Research Development and Extension (OVPRDE), headed by Dr. Lito D. Lacaba, will be monitoring the progress of these submissions and anticipates that this will only be the start of bigger things for the University's research and development.
In her closing message, RDSO Director Dr. Ma. Natalia A. Ciasico expressed that her office will strive to conduct exercises like this as often as possible until their research output publications are at the desired level.
