ROTC Unit Conducts Yearly RAATI, Flexes Snappy Display of Military Service Training

Eastern Samar State University Reserve Officer Training Course Unit from ESSU Main Campus and external campuses conducts Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (RAATI), participated in by the Advanced ROTC Cadet Officers and Basic ROTC Cadets from all ESSU campuses on May 21, 2024 at the University Grandstand.

The RAATI team is led by Ltc. Benjy Roberto G. Ferreras, MNSA PA (RES), 804th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion Commander and Chairman of the RAATI AY 2023-2024. With him are RAATI 2024 Vice Chairman, Ltc. Jay B. Olarte (INF) P, and RAATI members, 802nd CDC Director, Maj. Gerrybell P. Porio (INF) PA, MSg. Raul J. Doliento (INF) PA, MSg. Recho P. Lopez PA (Res), SSg. Jonelon B. Liagao (AGS) PA, SSg. Jimmy L. Dela Fuente Jr. (INF) PA, SSg. Emmanuel A. Estanes (AGS) PA, Sgt. Dominique G. Catapan (AGS) PA, Sgt. Frederick U. Guazon, (INF) PA, Sgt. Runnel N. Yano (INF) PA, Cpl. Mario D. Picardal (INF) PA, Cpl. Phoebe Lyn O. Malurit (INF) PA, Pvt. Rico C. Carbonel (INF) PA.

Greeting the distinguished guests are Dr. Marina S. Apilado, Vice President for Quality Assurance and External Affairs, Dr. Rhodora C. Mendoza, Vice President for Administration, Dr. Jonas Palada, Director for ARRO, LTC Rogelio Y. Baillo, ESSU Borongan ROTC Commandant, and Dr. Rolando R. Codilan, ESSU Borongan NSTP Director.

RAATI is a yearly activity of the AFP Reserve Command (RESCOM) that entails actual inspection of all activated army ROTC units in the area of operation. This activity aims to test the degree of administrative efficiency, training management, proficiency and quality of training attained by the Corps of Cadets.

The inspection evaluated the skills and readiness of the cadets in various disciplines where the ESSU ROTC Units performed impressively. The entire grandstand echoed in celebration as the scores per discipline were announced by 2024 RAATI Chairman Ferreras. The Disaster Response and Relief Operations team scored 4.91 out of 5, the Small Unit Tactics Ranger Team scored a flawless 4.99 out of 5. For the company drill the cadets scored 7.95 out of 8, the inspection in ranks scored 4.95 out of 5 and the cerem
onial parade scored 13.96 out of 14.

In both his opening and closing remarks, Ltc. Benjy Rogerto G. Ferreras conveyed a lasting reminder to the cadets and officers that, “To serve the country is to love our country. Loving our country is the greatest gesture of nationalism and the pride of being a Filipino, whose dreams are anchored towards making our country great and powerful."
