As one of the most anticipated events in connection to the 20th ESSU Charter Day Celebrations, the University set in motion the first ever inter-campus ESSUlympics on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the ESSU Main Campus Grandstand. The games which included basketball, volleyball, badminton table tennis and lawn tennis ran for two days until August 8th, Thursday.
The event is a friendly sports competition among members of the faculty and administrative personnel from the seven (7) campuses of ESSU. Key officials of the University were in full support, led by ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr., along with his VPs, Campus Administrators, Deans, Directors, Department Heads, and members of the faculty & administrative services.
Dr. Pagatpatan expressed his excitement citing that the said event has been quite some time in the making and stressed the essence of ESSUlympics in fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among all the employees of the University from the various campuses, both teaching and non-teaching. It also seeks to promote and give focus on the physical & mental health of the University's workforce.
Another more applauded part of the event was the search for Mr. & Ms. ESSUlympics. The contestants showcased their looks and wit in their sports attire, formal wear, and the question & answer segments of the search. Winners in the games were announced, and the coronation of the Mr. & Ms. ESSUlympics was held on the evening of August 8th with a festive awarding ceremony.
When all was said and done, Mr. & Ms. ESSU Can-avid in the person of Mr. Angelo Ladisla and Ms. Yanna Grace Rivera took home the crowns in a very proud moment for the said campus. Both candidates also took home special awards on top of their crowns.
