Eastern Samar State University Main Campus celebrated World Teachers' Day on Monday, October 7, 2024, paying homage to the members of its entire faculty in a heartwarming celebration at the Canuctan Hall.
On behalf of the ESSUdyantes, Supreme Student Council (SSC) President, Hon. Patricia Apura, offered a brief but touching message to the entire faculty, underscoring the influence that teachers have on them, "Damo nga salamat ha iyo pag-ugop, pagtutdo, ngan pag-aghat ha amon nga mga estudyante. Your dedication and passion have a lasting impact, not only in the classroom but in the lives of every student you touch."
The celebration started with a mass offering presided over by ESSU chaplain Rev. Fr. Christian Ofilan. Kicking off the celebrations proper was an enjoyable song number by none other than ESSU President himself, Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan Jr., in his own way of honoring the faculty members with a couple of renditions of Ed Sheeran's Perfect and the classic Sumayaw, Sumunod by The Boyfriends, that set the tone for an amusing afternoon.
Students from the various programs and performing groups delighted the members of the faculty with a variety of musical acts and short plays. Not to be outdone, a few members of the faculty also took centerstage to showcase their singing talents. Standing out was the College of Law (CoL) Dean's, Atty. Dulce Amor Beato, belting out She's Gone by Steelheart that wowed everyone at the venue.
The College of Education (COED) successfully facilitated the program, which incidentally included three international guests from Krida Wacana Christian University (UKRIDA) of West Jakarta, Indonesia, who are currently on a week-long engagement as part of the partnership with ESSU for the Faculty Mobility program. The guests were properly introduced to the famed Filipino hospitality courtesy of the students and the ESSU leadership.
