In faithfulness to their shared commitment to purposeful collaboration in the name of quality instruction, ESSU warmly received delegates from Samar State University (SSU) of Catbalogan City for the latter’s benchmarking activity with the former’s College of Law (CoL) on March 13, 2025, in the Main Campus.
None other than University President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr., himself welcomed the SSU team at the Conference Room in the Administration Building, alongside the CoL’s leadership, including its Dean, Atty. Maria Lourdes Isabel C. Arevalo; Assoc. Dean, Atty. Dulce Lyn B. Payod; Program Head, Atty. Mark Philip D. Alegre; BOR Secretary Dr. Debbie Joyce R. Voloso; and former CoL Dean and currently the University’s Head of the Legal Office, Atty. Dulce Amor A. Beato, Attorney IV.
The SSU delegation was spearheaded by Atty. Brian Joseph P. Almeria, Attorney IV - SSU Legal Office. Along with him were Mr. Arthur L. Poblete, J.D., SSU BOR Secretary; Ms. Flora N. Perez, J.D., Legal Assistant III; and Ms. Christine Joy G. Dacallos-Mendiola, Legal Assistant II.
Apart from a brief tour at the CoL building, which includes the classrooms, library, and moot court, both teams engaged in an interactive information-sharing discourse pertaining to successfully operating a Juris Doctor program in a state university. The ESSU team also addressed key inquiries from the SSU delegation.
Benchmarking activities such as this have proven to be an effective exercise between high-performing academic institutions in fast-tracking development in certain disciplines that allow regional institutions such as ESSU and SSU to keep up with the best in the country.
