The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII (CHEDRO VIII) led by Regional Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, CESO II, and a few of his team, were once again visitors of the ESSU Main Campus for the Ceremonial Distribution of the 1st Semester Allowance for both the new and incumbent batch of scholars, held at the Teatro Ibabawnon on December 18, 2024.
A total of 173 beneficiaries from across all campuses of ESSU were awarded financial assistance from the Scholarship for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho) for AY 2024-2025. In their messages, Dr. Aljibe and ESSU President, Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. once again made the students understand what great privilege and opportunity they are getting from the said scholarship.
With each student beneficiary receiving Php70,000 per semester until they finish their selected course, the two leaders reminded the students to use the funds wisely and prioritize their school essentials before anything else. With this assistance, they also reminded the lucky ESSUdyantes that the government only asks that they faithfully fulfill their end of the agreement by putting in the hard work in order to complete their studies and help their families. As a final request, the students were also urged to help their communities and to keep spreading gestures of generosity in return as soon as they find themselves in the position to do so.
Furthermore, Dr. Aljibe also turned over freshly signed checks worth millions more to fund other scholarship programs, namely the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) and the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) from the Commission.
