Led by the University's Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), through its Director, Dr. Debbie Joyce R. Voloso, ESSU participated in a noble Tree Growing Activity organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Eastern Samar Field Office on September 18, 2024, at the Hebacong Nature Park, Barangay Hebacong, Borongan City.
Also in attendance to represent ESSU was a full delegation composed of the University Directors, Unit heads, HRMO personnel, and selected administrative employees. Present as well in the said activity are the different government agencies, including the Department of Education (DepEd), Borongan City Local Government Unit (LGU), City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Provincial Environment & Natural Resources Office (PENRO), LGU Sulat, LGU San Julian, and PhilHealth.
With messages from Mr. Jason Tadeos, Senior HR Specialist of CSC Eastern Samar Field Office, and Mr. Jojito Acla of CENRO, the participants were warmly welcomed and were provided with the rationale of the activity. Also present to partake in the activity were Borongan City Mayor, Hon. Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, SB Member Hon. Victor "Ohoy" Franco, City Information Officer, Mr. Rupert Ambil, and Ms. Lorna Caballa from the City Human Resource Office. Meanwhile, City Administrator Atty. Celestino Cabato concluded the event with a closing message.
A total of 150 combined Bagonito, Palosapis, and Kulipapa seedlings were planted by the participants. The said event is part of a nationwide tree-growing initiative by CSC from September 15 to 21, 2024, in celebration of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA). The initiative aims to plant 10,000 trees in various locations across the nation to support the PCSA celebration, which focuses on the importance of sustainable management for the achievement of a future-ready civil service.
