Among the nightly features leading to the annual fiesta celebration of Borongan City, the most anticipated attraction for the ESSU Community is the ESSU Nite. On Thursday evening, September 5, 2024, the Mayor Luis Capito Cultural Stage sparkled with Hollywood vibe courtesy of a multimedia theatrical production from the ESSU students, faculty, and non-teaching personnel.
The entire production has been a labor of love for the performing arts and a total collaboration by the ESSU leadership, faculty, non-teaching personnel, and students from the various colleges of the University led by the Public Relations & Information Management Office (PRIMO), through its Director, Ms. Maria Ayreen Baquilod-Elpedes, Student Services and Alumni Affairs (SSAA) Office, through its Dean and OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Aris A. Lapada, and the Culture & the Arts Development (CAD) office.
Entitled "Starlit Dreams: ESSU's Journey to Global Stardom", the multimedia theatrical production directed and written by Mr. Eduardo S. Lingan, follows the journey of Eva, a talented young starlet dreaming of being one of the stars in elite red carpet events as she prepares for an audition that she hopes to launch her career into the A-list zone. Eva's journey reflects ESSU's values and aspirations as the University gradually steps into the national and international scene in higher education through globally relevant academic pursuits.
The said annual event gives the students and employees of the University a chance to immerse themselves in the performing arts through a combination of short acts, music, dance, and more. This event provides not only entertainment but also artistic expression and cultural enrichment. ESSU's various performing groups came together for a two-hour ceaseless flow of musical and theatrical acts that winded up with a boisterous applause from the appreciative crowd.
In his message, Borongan City Mayor and Hermano Mayor 2024, Hon. Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda, expressed his verve with the solid partnership between ESSU and the city government in all endeavors, including research, extension, academics, and cultural enrichment. Meanwhile, Dr. Aris A. Lapada, conveyed his adulation for the entire production committee for such a sensational performance.
