ESSU Marks the Culmination of International Women's Month with Medical and Legal Outreach Initiatives

The University's Gender and Development (GAD) Office, under the leadership of Atty. Dulce Lyn B. Payod, spearheaded an impactful culmination of the International Women’s Month celebrations on Friday, March 28, 2025, offering free medical services and legal consultations at the University Infirmary and Student Pavilion.

Atty. Payod was joined by an esteemed team for the legal consultations, including College of Law (CoL) Dean and GAD Assistant Director Atty. Maria Lourdes Isabel C. Arevalo; ESSU Legal Office’s Atty. Dulce Amor A. Beato, Attorney IV; and partners from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Eastern Samar Chapter—Atty. Richard O. Banaldia, Atty. Jon Anthony R. Mutia, and Atty. Rex E. Palada—who generously provided their professional services pro bono.

On the health front, the University Infirmary was transformed into a hub of care, with a dedicated team from the Provincial Health Office (PHO), led by Dr. Celedonia S. Alvor and Dr. Carmina S. Alvor, offering crucial services such as random blood screening, breast cancer and HIV screening, blood pressure monitoring, syphilis testing, nutritional counseling, and family planning assistance. This initiative directly supported both ESSU employees and students, reinforcing ESSU’s commitment to women’s health and empowerment.
