As one of the enduring practices of the healthcare profession, the College of Nursing and Allied Sciences (CONAS) of ESSU Main Campus facilitated the 18th Capping, Pinning, and Candlelighting ceremonies for its Level 2 BS Nursing students and the 1st White Coating ceremonies for its Level 3 BS Nutrition & Dietetics students at the Teatro Ibabawnon, ESSU Main Campus, on November 5, 2024.
The event is one of the bigger traditions of the CONAS, symbolizing honor and dignity in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities as future health workers. The ceremony symbolizes the readiness of students to accept their impending responsibilities of providing utmost care to their clientele.
Imparting a heartfelt message of service and compassion, ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. also boasted the BS Nursing's most impressive five consecutive years of a 100% institutional passing rate in the licensure examinations, as well as the consistent higher-than-national passing rate for the BS Midwifery, which is also part of the said college. Dr. Pagatpatan also expressed his leadership's deliberate strides of further equipping the health related program offerings of the university with the latest state-of-the-art facilities as an integral part of the impending opening of the College of Medicine.
A proud BS Nursing alumna of ESSU, Ms. Jassie Acla-Alegre (RN), Borongan City Nutritionist Officer, served as the guest of honor for the ceremonies and inspired the students with her message of grit and resilience as embodied in her own remarkable journey in the university to now being part of the healthcare workforce serving the people who are most in need.
