Unmindful of the occasional rains, students and faculty members came out strong for the 2024 ESSU Main Campus Intramural Games opening exercises. From the parade around the campus to the opening program at the University grandstand, units from across all colleges and programs showed out in full attendance.
The University leadership showed solid support in the opening ceremonies at the grandstand, led by ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr., and Vice Presidents, Dr. Aris A. Lapada, VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Jocelyn S. Castro, VP for External Affairs and Quality Assurance; and Dr. Rhodora C. Mendoza, VP for Administration, complimented by the College Deans and entire faculty members of the different colleges.
To ensure even representation and balance of players, the 12 undergraduate colleges of the Main Campus are split into four (4) units who will be competing against each other. The College of Engineering, College of Education, and College of Nursing & Allied Sciences make up Unit 1—Red Dragons. The College of Arts & Social Sciences, College of Computer Studies, and College of Agriculture compose Unit 2—Blue Marlins.
The College of Business Management & Accountancy, College of Fisheries, and College of Science make up Unit 3—Yellow Tigers, while the College of Hotel Management, College of Technology, and College of Criminal Justice Education compose Unit 4—While Falcons.
In his opening message, Dr. Pagatpatan made sure to remind the students that participation in the games is a requirement, whether as an athlete, a supporter, or in any other auxiliary capacity. He further expressed that sports and physical fitness should be as much a part of University life as academics.
The 2024 ESSU Main Campus Intramural Games, which opened yesterday, September 25th, will run until Friday, September 27, 2024, with the announcement of winners and the coronation of Mr. and Ms. ESSU as the finale.
