Eastern Samar State University unveils its brand new Medical Science Laboratory Building for its College of Medicine in a jovial Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Blessing of the said building on Friday, February 21, 2025, at ESSU Main Campus.
The Medical Science Laboratory is a three-storey state-of-the-art structure that boasts a modern design equipped with elevators, basement parking, and a rooftop foliage. With all intents, the said ceremony only signals the inevitable opening of the ESSU College of Medicine that is getting closer than ever.
Making the occasion grander was the presence of its honored guests, who are also the partners and collaborators of the university in the perpetual toil of further elevating higher education in this part of the country to new heights.
With ESSU key officials led by University President, Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. present, guest attendees for the said ceremony were headlined by 4Ps Party List Representative and Minority Floor Leader of the 19th Congress, Hon. Marcelino C. Libanan, who is also the principal author of House Bill No. 9872, the legislative foundation for the establishment of the College of Medicine (CM) in ESSU.
Also present in united support were Tingog Party List Representative, Hon. Jude A. Acidre represented by Mr. Alexis Yu; CHEDRO8 Director, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe; Borongan City Mayor, Hon. Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda represented by City Administrator, Atty. Celestino Cabato; and former Eastern Samar Vice Governor, Hon. Christopher 'Sheen' Gonzales.
In his speech, Dr. Pagatpatan disclosed that laboratory equipment and medical installations worth tens of millions for ESSU's CM have already been ordered and will be fitted in the building soon. Hon. Libanan further expressed that it is only a matter of time before the Senate of the Philippines approves HB 9872 and appropriate funding is allocated to ensure the successful operation of ESSU's College of Medicine in the years to come.
