Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. formally embarks on his second term as Eastern Samar State University President in a momentous Renewal of Leadership Commitment Ceremonies on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Canuctan Hall, ESSU Main Campus.
Themed "Honoring Our Legacy, Shaping Our Future: Advancing Together Through Excellence, Accountability, and Service," the event was graced by several distinguished guests, with the notable presence of CHED Commissioner and ESSU Board of Regents Chairman, Hon. Desiderio R. Apag III, whose attendance marked a distinct honor for the entire ESSU community.
Other esteemed guests included CHED Regional Office VIII Director, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, CESO III; DOST Regional Office VIII Director, Dr. John Glenn D. Ocaña, PASUC8 and Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) President, Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr.; SSU President, Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, represented by Faculty Regent Dr. Jhonil C. Bajado, and select members of the ESSU Board of Regents.
A significant moment of the ceremony was the formal declaration of Dr. Pagatpatan’s reappointment, verbally declared by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Regional Office VIII Director, Atty. Marilyn E. Taldo, through CSC Eastern Samar Field Office Provincial Director, Mr. Rey Albert B. Uy. Adding a personal touch to the celebration, Dr. Pagatpatan also marked his birthday on the same day.
Local leaders were also in attendance, including the Minority Leader of the 19th Congress & 4Ps Party List Representative, Hon. Marcelino C. Libanan, represented by Former Taft Mayor, Ms. Marian June E. Libanan; Eastern Samar Lone District Representative, Hon. Maria Fe R. Abunda, represented by Ms. Cora Basada; and Borongan Mayor, Hon. Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, represented by Atty. Mark Gregory Afable.
Taking the podium, CHEDRO8 Director Dr. Aljibe highlighted Dr. Pagatpatan’s "outstanding" performance rating, a testament to his dedication to excellence and service. This distinguished recognition underscored his overwhelming qualification for another term.
Dr. Pagatpatan was joined by his family and loved ones, led by his supportive wife, Mrs. Evelyn Pagatpatan, as well as the entire ESSU community, including University Vice Presidents, Campus Administrators, Deans, Directors, Faculty, Non-Teaching Personnel, and students, all celebrating this milestone with their beloved president.
Further enhancing the spirit of the occasion, various performing groups from different ESSU campuses delivered a remarkable showcase of artistic talent. With a legacy of achievements in his first tenure, ESSU stands poised for even greater heights under the continued visionary leadership of Dr. Pagatpatan.
