In close collaboration with the University's Student Scholarship & Financial Assistance office (SSFA), the Department of Science and Technology—Science Education Institute (SEI) conducted an orientation for the Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) beneficiaries at the President's Conference Room, ESSU Main Campus today, October 29, 2024.
DOST's Mr. Mark William V. Gonzales, Senior SRS & Scholarship Focal of PTSO-Eastern Samar, and Mr. Joshua M. Catubao, Project Technical Assistant-DOST8 SEI Unit, provided a comprehensive briefing on the scholarship guidelines with the student beneficiaries and their parents.
The DOST-SEI Scholarship is one of the more prestigious scholarship programs that the SSFA presents to ESSU students, known to have a high standard of examination difficulty as the first screening process. For this current batch of qualifiers, only four (4) out of a hundred (100) examinees from across all ESSU campuses passed the exams.
The successful beneficiaries include three from ESSU Main Campus, namely Cesar Ian B. Melendres (BS Electrical Engineering), John Cristian D. Daganio (BS Civil Engineering), Mike Paul C. Cebricus (BSED Major in Mathematics), and Charles John G. Alegria (BS Civil Engineering) from ESSU Guiuan Campus.
