Members of the Eastern Samar State University Board of Regents (ESSU-BOR) held their First Quarter Regular Board Meeting of the year on April 1, 2025, at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office in Quezon City, marking their initial assembly under the leadership of the new Chairman-designate, Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, as they carried out their integral duties in University governance.
Present during the session were ESSU President and BOR Vice Chair Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr.; CHEDRO8 Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe; Private Sector Representatives Hon. Gilbert A. Escoto and Hon. Reynaldo C. Dorado, Sr.; Faculty Regent Hon. Gershon G. Escoto, Jr.; Alumni Regent Hon. Estelita D. Calvo; and Hon. Aquilino A. Mejica, representing the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education chaired by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, with University BOR Secretary Dr. Debbie Joyce R. Voloso facilitating the proceedings.
Notably, the meeting was the transition in student representation on the board. Outgoing Federated Student Council Organization, Inc. (FSCO) President, Mr. Clarence M. Blanco, formally concluded his tenure, passing on his responsibilities to the newly elected Student Regent, Ms. Reyna Erika T. Rivera, in an official turnover ceremony held during the session.
