At 9:00 AM today, August 7, 2024, Eastern Samar State University offered a Eucharistic Mass as thanksgiving for the 20th Charter Day Celebration of the University. The ESSU Community was priviledged to have the mass presided over by none other than the Bishop of the Diocese of Borongan, His Excellency Most Rev. Crispin B. Varquez, D.D.

The mass offering is a constant part of ESSU's major events and celebrations, the 20th Charter Day being one of the more significant of these events. Always at the forefront and encouraging everyone to participate in this religious exercise is ESSU President Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. Today's mass was attended by practically all of the ESSU Community with the Vice Presidents, Campus Administrator, Deans, Directors, Unit Heads, faculty members, administrative personnel, and students.

Rev. Msgr. Lope C. Robredillo, Vicar General of the Diocese of Borongan, shared a most meaningful homily centered on compassion: "In the future, Eastern Samar State University must be known by Estehanons as a University of compassion by producing graduates whose education is responsive to national and local needs and stressing the importance of the process in the formation of the students that involves the practice of compassion."

The ESSU Maydolong Chorale and Brass Band added a solemn touch to the Eucharistic celebration with their music. The beloved Bishop himself even complimented their excellent performance.

Moreover, employees received their Php3,000 anniversary bonus following the mass. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and joy as everyone shared in the celebration of compassion and unity. With the support of the University leadership and the dedication of its faculty and staff, ESSU will continue to be a beacon of compassion and excellence for years to come.
