As a fitting wrap up to the week-long 20th Charter Day Anniversary Celebration, a program was held at the Canuctan Hall, ESSU Main Campus on Friday, August 9, 2024, by recognizing the immeasurable services of its employees and external partners.
Serving as the keynote speaker, 4Ps Partylist Representative, Hon. Marcelino C. Libanan led the roster of honored guests, along with former ESSU President, Dr. Edmundo A. Campoto, and representatives of Gov. Ben P. Evardone, CHEDRO8 Director, Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, and Guiuan Mayor, Hon. Annaliza G. Kwan.
With plaques and certificates, the program also acknowledged the many contributions and achievements of ESSU employees, from both the faculty and administrative services. Partners in the local government were also recognized for their instrumental support and collaboration of the various programs benefiting ESSU, which includes Hon. Libanan, Gov. Evardone, and the various local chief executives from the municipality locations of the different ESSU external campuses.
It is important to remember that Hon. Libanan is the author of the ESSU charter and the force behind the institution of the College of Law and the soon-to-open College of Medicine in the University, while Gov. Evardone's BPE (Bulig Para Estudyante) scholarship has been helping ESSU students who are taking their licensure review and exams for many years now.
In the program, several employees also struck some luck by winning in the raffle draw which gave away coveted prizes in cash, electronics and appliances. Still to everyone's pleasant surprise, Rep. Libanan announced that all regular and job order employees across all campuses will be treated to a PhP2,000 cash bonus and a sack of rice each from his office.
In a separate affair, a much anticipated and well attended concert and rave party which started late into Friday evening, aptly dubbed ESSUphoria. The concert which was also Hon. Libanan's treat for all ESSUdyantes, featured the popular rock band Sponge Cola, fronted by a handful of promising local bands. The university grandstand was a sight to behold as it was filled with students rocking to the music, quite unmindful of the occasional rain.
