ESSU holds Solid Waste Management Capacity Building Seminar

Several speakers delivered exhaustive discussions in this respect. Mr. Antonio C. Amosco, In-charge of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), shared his insights on the current status of the University’s solid waste management system. Amosco, together with other in-charge of the janitorial services of external campuses, also aired their sentiments and challenges in the handling, processing, and disposing waste. Following was a comprehensive talk by For. Edgar I. Peque, Program Head of BS Environmental Science from the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, on ECOSWAM, the RA 9003 policies and sanctions, intervention plans of the MRF, waste analysis and characterization, waste management programs, and ESSU’s role in addressing solid waste management as an academic institution.
 
In effect of this, participants pledged their commitment to support policies to be implemented to combat the increasing waste collection and improper waste disposal practices of university facility occupants.
