ESSU Welcomes Intrams 2015

“I hereby declare the Intramurals 2015… OPEN!” the Eastern Samar State University sports director, Mr. Federico M. Suyot Jr., declared as he formally opened the 2015 Intramurals Meet yesterday morning at the ESSU Grandstand.
With various designated colors cheerfully and peacefully dancing and waving around the campus, the event started at 8:05 AM through a parade from the intersection point going to the grandstand by Marshall-ROTC officers, SSC-TSG officers, SPBS staff, and the colleges merged into units with their corresponding coaches, faculty and staff. Unit I, the “Red Dragons,” is composed of College of Engineering (CE), College of Computer Studies (CCS), and School of Vocational Technology (SVT). Unit II as “Blue Angels” consists of College of Education (COED), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and College of Law and Criminal Justice (CLCJ).

The biggest college as to the number of students, College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA) is Unit III as “Yellow Tigers”. Lastly, the College of Nursing (CON) and College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CANS) as “Green Blazers” are Unit IV.
The program formally started by an invocation, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the ESSU Hymn by ESSU Glee. “Victory is not measured on winning the game but on how you played the game.” Dr. Edmundo A. Campoto, the University President, said as he delivered his opening remarks.
To give a beat and a good vibe for a fresh start of the said event, Mrs. Gloria Cleta Corado, led the zumba dance as the rest of the ESSU community followed her dance steps. After which, the raising of ESSU and unit banners led by Dr. Edmundo A. Campoto, Dr. Emilia L. Baquilod, Dr. Ernesto T. Anacta and Dr. Eva P. Palada followed. The unit banners were raised by College Deans and its representatives.
Selected National SCUAA 2014 athletes enthusiastically lighted the torch symbolizing sportsmanship, amity and camaraderie. As it was said, lighting the way for others brightens the path for ourselves. Natalie Bernadine Corado, 2015 National SCUAA chess player and 2014 Regional SCUAA best board player led the Oath of Amateurism.
The presentation of candidates for Mr. and Ms. ESSU 2015 participated by the different colleges of the university followed. The program ended by the awarding of the “Best in Pakulo” and “Best in T-Shirt Design” for the units and “Best in Sports Wear” for Mr. and Ms. ESSU 2015 candidates.
