ESSU extends technical assistance to LGU Borongan on the documentation of best practices

Initiated by the Department of Interior of Local Government and in partnership with the Extension Office of the Eastern Samar State University, a series of activities to improve the capability of the LGU to document their best practices was conducted in December 2017 and April this year. 

As an initial undertaking, ESSU conducted a research study describing the perception of the respondents of the tourism potential of Borongan City. A writeshop on how to properly document best practices was soon followed and was participated by different stakeholders in Borongan City. The inputs of the said research study and writeshop were said to be essential in crafting the tourism plan of LGU Borongan.  

The 1st State of the Council Address – A Leader’s Testimony

The Supreme Student Council- Tertiary Student Government (SSC-TSG) President Mr. Ranie Operario of the Eastern Samar State University spearheaded the 1st State of the Council Address (SOCA) and Consultative Meeting held at the ESSU Multi-purpose Hall on February 13, 2018.

                The said event was a brainchild of the SSC-TSG office through the advisory of Mrs. Marcelle A. Badillo and was participated by the various Federated Class Organization (FCO) of the different colleges of the university under the administration of the Office of the Students and Alumni Affairs (OSAA) headed by Dr. Jonas V. Palada. Present were the presidents of the CAS, CANS, CBMA, CON, CCS, SVT, and COED,each were given the time to relay their accomplishments and projects with the students of their respective colleges witnessing the said event.

ESSU Teatro LANTAWAN Takes Home Win at PASUC Regional Competition

The Eastern Samar State University Theater group known as Teatro LANTAWAN won the first place in the Short and Sweet Play competition against seven teams from different state universities and colleges of Region VIII. The contest held during the PASUC (Philippine Association of State University and Colleges) VIII Culture and Arts Festival Competition at the Eastern Visayas State University, Tacloban City on November 17, 2017. 

Not far behind were Palonpon Institute of Technology (PIT) placing second and Leyte Normal University (LNU) taking third.

ESSU Key Officials Attend ITAPS Seminar-Workshop

Key officials of the university headed by Dr. Edmundo A. Campoto, the University President attended the Integrity, Transparency and Accountability in Public Service (ITAPS) Seminar-Workshop conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman Region VIII last November 23, 2017 at the 2nd Floor of the Main Library.

The central message of ITAPS, which is also an overarching priority of the current administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte is “zero tolerance to corruption.” The objectives of the said seminar-workshop was to identify and discuss the ethical norms of behavior of government officials; define and identify the causes and effect of corruption; discuss the features of Philippine anti-corruption laws; relate the anti-corruption laws to real-life experience; and for the participants to assess and write an individual integrity plan.

Mr CBMA AND Ms. COE clinch Mr and Ms.Intramurals 2017 titles, respectively

ESSU,Borongan-Mr. Yuri Tzu Sun of College of Business Managment and Accountancy(CBMA) and Ms.Hannah Custona of College of Engineering (COE) bagged the Mr. and Miss Intramurals 2017 respectively held during the Opening Ceremony of the Eastern Samar State University-Main Campus Intramural Games 2017 on September 21, 2017.

The pageant which was composed only by Sports Wear exposure was participated by selected representatives from all the colleges in the campus. Sun worn his basketball outfit while Custona dressed in volleyball get-up on which both were adjuged as Best in Sportswear making them the titlests of Mr. and Miss Intramurals 2017.

Intramurals' Opening Holds Pakulo

A “Pakulo” was conducted as part of the Opening Ceremony of the two-day Intramural Games 2017 of Eastern Samar State University-Main Campus.

The said “pakulo” was conducted for each team to stage their respective cheers.'

SSC-TSG Organizes Fun Fair and Booth Display For Non-Athlete Students

SSC-TSG office led by its President, Mr. Ranie L. Operario facilitated Fun Fair and Booth Display 2017 for the non-athlete students of ESSU-main campus on the first day of Intramural Games 2017.

The participants of the said activity were the accredited students’ organizations of the university on which they set up booth where some of them sold items, offered film showing and provided photo service.

Intramural Games 2017 Commences with a Parade

Eastern Samar State University-Main Campus formally started its Intramural Games 2017 with a parade around the campus going to the grandstand at 8:30 in the morning of September 21, 2017.

Specifically, the parade was led by university marshals, then followed by ROTC Officers, ESSU Marching Band, University Key Officials and College Deans, participating units namely: Unit 1(Red Dragons) of College of Engineering and College of Education; Unit 2 (Blue Marlins) of College of Arts and Sciences, College of Law and Criminal Justice and Senior High School; Unit 3 (Yellow Tigers) of College of Business Management and Accountancy; Unit 4 (White Falcons) of College of Computer Studies, College of Agriculture Natural Sciences and College of Nursing with their Mr. and Miss ESSU Candidates, different student organizations, athletes, students, coaches, faculty and staff, tournament managers and officiating officials.

ESSU Holds Opening Program for Intramural Games 2017

Right after a thirty-minute parade, the participants convened at the ESSU Grandstand for the Opening Program of the two-day Intramural Games 2017 of Eastern Samar State University-Main Campus.

Dr. Emilia L. Baquilod, the VP for Academic, Research and Extension stressed out in her opening remarks, the importance of sporting activity to the whole ESSU populace.

After this message, all participants danced Zumba spearheaded by Ma’am Gloria Cleta Corado.
